Donna Grace Kroh (b. Pennsylvania) is a first-generation Congolese-American artist whose practice centers on figuration as a means of examining labor, material, and diasporic identity. Working across painting and assemblage, she incorporates graphite, cobalt pigment, and recovered electronic waste to construct layered surfaces that hold both physical and symbolic weight. Her work is grounded in research and material inquiry, positioning the body within broader systems of extraction, consumption, and global exchange.

Kroh has exhibited in prominent group shows such as 29 Million Dreams (SoHo, 2023) and Bridging Futures (SoHo, 2025), and presented her first solo exhibition, On Extraction (Philadelphia, 2026).

Her recent series, Extraction, investigates artisanal mining practices in the Democratic Republic of Congo, foregrounding the human labor embedded within technologies of everyday life. Incorporating e-waste sourced through her immediate community, she embeds these materials directly into her works, creating compositions that function as both image and archive. By integrating cobalt blue pigment, Kroh materially references the mineral at the center of her research while acknowledging the labor that sustains its circulation.

Through densely layered figures and accumulated forms, Kroh’s work reflects on proximity, endurance, and visibility.
